Babies: Reading List

Babies Reading List

Allan Ahlberg

This is a variation of the popular rhyme "Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird." This is a great book to sing or read aloud to a child. The pictures are big, clear, and easy for children and parents to relate to. They are done with watercolors and large type. Mockingbird is a large picture book that is great for all ages, especially babies, and can be enjoyed by a group or a single child.

Peek-a-Moo is a lively presentation of a favorite baby game. Using animals and the sounds they make, the large and brightly colored pictures not only entice baby to play peek-a-boo by lifting the flaps, but also encourage repetition of the familiar animal noises. Recommended by Parenting magazine, this charming book is a delight.

A Big Book of Beautiful Babies is a heart-warming collection of photographs of babies doing what babies do best...being themselves. Through simple rhyming text the book captures baby's emotions and actions in large black and white photographs ending with the best baby face of all...your child's in the Mylar mirror provided at the end of the book. Be sure to have a baby close by to cuddle when sharing this wonderful book.

Multiple photographs on each double-page spread represent babies from various races in a variety of moods. The adorable photographs are set against pastel washed watercolors. The pages are sturdier than an average picture book although this is not a board book. Babies will look intently at the familiar objects they see on these sixteen pages: babies, bottles, diapers, and blankets. Text consists of two words on the bottom of each page describing the mood of the page: "happy babies", "hungry babies", and so on. A precious title to share while cuddling with your dear one.
